Volkswagen is currently focusing on its upcoming SUV Taigun that is likely to launch by mid-2021.

Volkswagen India has finally revealed its plans for 2021. In a recent event, the company revealed details about its Project 2.0 dubbed as ‘SARV2.OTTAM’ in India. Furthermore, it aims to become an ‘Accessible’ brand in the country by focusing more on its customers. The automaker made significant announcements regarding future launches. As of now, there will be around 4 product launches in the Indian market from the German automaker this year.

For the moment, the focus lies on the upcoming SUV Taigun. The reason being it is one of the prime products coming out of the India 2.0 Project of Volkswagen India Group. We can expect the ‘Made-in-India’ Taigun to reach the showrooms by mid-2021. Under the bonnet, it will be offered with two turbo-petrol engines. A 1.0-litre TSI unit linked to a 6-speed manual and torque converter automatic gearboxes. While there will also be a 1.5-litre TSI power plant mated to a 7-speed DSG. Since the SUV will be manufactured locally, we can expect it to fall in the price bracket of Rs 10 lakhs - Rs 17 lakhs (ex-showroom).

Talking about the fully imported T-Roc, it was sold out by September last year. Now the automaker is bringing it back into the market. Performance-wise, it will continue to draw power from its 1.5-litre TSI petrol engine mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. However, we can expect a slight price hike this time around. The SUV was launched at a price tag of Rs 19.99 lakhs (ex-showroom). The 5-seater Tiguan, on the other hand, was discontinued after the introduction of BS6 Emission Norms. Now it is all set to make its comeback in a facelifted avatar. Furthermore, we can expect it to come with a 1.5-litre TSI petrol engine instead of a 2.0-litre TDI diesel unit. Also, this time it will be offered with a 7-seat configuration. As for the price, it will cost around Rs 25 lakhs.

Lastly, Volkswagen is planning to launch Vento’s successor this year. Vento which is on sale in the international market by the name of Virtus has been spotted doing test runs quite a few times in the country. We can expect it to be launched by the end of 2021 at around Rs 9 lakhs(ex-showroom) in the Indian market.
