Volkswagen India had showcased the T-Roc SUV at the 2020 Auto Expo while announcing the commencement of pre-bookings in the country. The T-Roc is expected to go on sale from next month (April 2020) in the Indian market alongside the Tiguan AllSpace SUV. Being based on the VW Group's MQB A0 IN platform, Volkswagen T-Roc features and specifications have been released by the company ahead of the launch.
Volkswagen T-Roc SUV be offered in a single fully-loaded variant. It will flaunt LED headlamps with DRLs upfront while riding on dual-tone alloy wheels. The cabin will feature an all-digital instrument cluster, keyless entry, dual-zone automatic climate control, ‘Vienna’ leather seats and a panoramic sunroof as standard. The centre console will house an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. The safety features will include six airbags, ABS, reverse parking camera, park distance control, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), ESC etc. to name a few.
Volkswagen T-Roc will be initially retailed as CBU in the Indian market while local assembly might start at a later stage at the company's Aurangabad facility. Mechanically, it will be powered by a BS 6 compliant 1.5L turbocharged TSI petrol engine with top power of 148bhp and peak torque of 250Nm. The engine will be offered with a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox as standard while no manual transmission will be available. The T-Roc will not have any diesel variant for the time being, however a CNG variant could be expected in near future.
Ferrari head Sergio Marchionne has suggested that the company will be working on a utilitarian vehicle that will happen "Ferrari style".
