Volkswagen Taigun bookings are already underway online as well as at company authorized dealerships

Volkswagen India has officially announced the launch of Taigun SUV on September 23, 2021 in the country. The company had recently begun the local production of the Taigun at its Pune facility while bookings are already underway online as well as at company authorized dealerships. Volkswagen Taigun will be offered with a couple of petrol engine choices, similar to the Skoda Kushaq in the Indian market. Besides the Kushaq, it will rival the likes of Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta and Nissan Kicks in India.

Volkswagen Taigun Design & Features

Volkswagen Taigun is based on the same architecture as Skoda Kushaq yet it distinguishes itself very cleverly due to the inclusion of elements like the single-unit headlamps, dual-slat front grille and chrome studded front bumper. The rear profile is dominated by the LED tail lamp cluster that runs across the tailgate and the bumper with chrome finish. The cabin boasts of several premium features in the form of automatic climate control, wireless charging, type-C charging slots and a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and the My Volkswagen connect app. The switchgear is similar to the Kushaq but the addition of the digital instrument cluster makes it even more desirable than its Skoda cousin.

Volkswagen Taigun Engine

Mechanically, Volkswagen Taigun will be offered with two petrol engines which we have already seen with the Kushaq. There will be a 1.0L 3-cylinder turbocharged TSI motor which will generate top power of 115 bhp. In addition, it will also get a 1.5L 4-cylinder turbocharged unit which will belt out maximum power output of 150 bhp. Both the engines will come linked to a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard. As far as automatic transmission choices are concerned, the smaller 1.0L trim can be availed with a 6-speed torque converter unit while the bigger 1.5L motor will be on offer with a 7-speed dual-clutch (DCT) unit as an option. Volkswagen Taigun price is expected to start from Rs 10.50 Lakhs and go as high as Rs 17 Lakhs for the fully-loaded top-end trim.
