Volkswagen has taken the covers off the Tarok pickup concept. The Tarok pick-up is slightly smaller than the Amarok. The vehicle has been designed for an occasional workhorse. The pick-up is built on Volkswagen MQB passenger car platform.
The Tarok has a flatbed that is divided into a loading area and second row of seats. The pickup features a folding rear panel, it can be dropped down and it connects to the inside of the cabin. The vehicle has a maximum payload capacity of 1000 kg.
The front of the pick-up reminds of the Atlas Tanoak Concept. It has got roof-rails on top and 3D LED strip of the tailgate. It gets a virtual cockpit and a touchscreen at the centre of the dashboard. The dashboard sports an exterior colour crossbar.
Powering the pick-up is a 1.4-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine that produces 148 BHP and can run on both pure ethanol and petrol. The engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission and gets an all-time 4Motion AWD. The vehicle will also be available with a 2.0-litre TDI diesel unit.
The vehicle will be available in the Brazilian market along with other global markets, but it will not be sold in the United States because of its small size. Moreover, the company haven’t yet confirmed the launch of Tarok in Asian countries.
