Volkswagen Confirms Launch of Passat in India

The car will be powered by a 177hp, 2.0-litre diesel engine.

The company has announced that it has started production of its new Passat sedan at its Aurangabad facility. The company intends to launch the car sometime later this year.

Under the hood sits Volkswagen's 177hp, 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine paired with a six-speed DSG automatic gearbox. This car is built on the Volkswagen Group's versatile MQB platform which cars like the Tiguan, the Skoda Octavia and Superb are also based on.

The new Passat has a wheelbase that’s 80mm longer at 2,791mm, so expect more space on the inside. The new model is also 13mm shorter in terms of length (4,767mm), is 12mm wider (1,832mm) and 13mm shorter (1,456mm) than the previous car.
