The auto industry in India is going through an extended period of slump in sales and apart from scaling down production, the companies are offering huge discounts on their models in order to prevent inventory pile-up. One such company is the German maker Volkswagen, which has seen the sales of its models come down over time. Volkswagen has also recalibrated its strategy in India and is now is plans of implementing India 2.0 strategy under the leadership of Skoda India. However, ahead of that the company is offering huge discounts on its models in the Indian market to keep the sales momentum going. Here’s a look at the Volkswagen cars in the Indian market with highest discounts.
Volkswagen Polo
Talking of Polo, the German maker offers their hatchback in the Indian market in 4 configurations. Polo comes with 2 diesel and 2 petrol engine options. Taking up petrol options first, the German hatch comes with a 1L 3-pot petrol mill rated to deliver 75 Bhp and 95 Nm, this variant comes with a 5 speed manual gearbox as standard. The higher state of tune petrol engine in Polo is a 1.2L 4-pot turbo petrol unit rated to deliver 105 Bhp and 175 Nm, this unit comes with a 7 speed twin clutch automatic gearbox as standard. Moving on to diesel options of Polo, the same 1.5L turbo diesel engine is offered in two states of tune – 89 Bhp-230 Nm and 109 Bhp-250 Nm. The two options come with a 5 speed manual gearbox.
As far as the discounts on Polo are concerned, the total discount on Polo is Rs. 52,000. This discount constitutes of Rs. 40,000 as cash discount, Rs. 10,000 as exchange bonus and Rs. 2,000 as corporate bonus. VW is also offering discount on Polo Cup edition of the car and here the maximum discount is Rs. 28,500. The breakup for this discount is Rs. 16,500 as cash discount, Rs. 10,000 as exchange bonus, and Rs. 2,000 as corporate bonus.
Volkswagen Ameo
The VW Ameo was company’s attempt at encashing the benefits of the sub-4 meter compact vehicle tax incentive. The Ameo comes with the same engine configuration as the Polo but VW has also added the option of the 7 speed twin clutch automatic gearbox on Ameo diesel, which is missing in Polo. The discount on Trendline variant of Ameo is Rs. 83,000. The split for this discount is defined as Rs 53,000 as cash discount, Rs. 20,000 as exchange bonus, and Rs. 10,000 as corporate bonus. Similar to Polo, the Ameo Cup edition has a lower discount at Rs. 66,000. This discount is spread as Rs, 36,000 as cash discount, Rs. 20,000 as exchange bonus, and Rs. 10,000 as corporate bonus.
Volkswagen Vento
VW offers Vento in 3 variants in the market. There are two petrol options and a diesel option. The petrol engines are 1.6L unit rated for 1.5 Bhp and 153 Nm, and a 1.2L turbo petrol unit rated for 1.5 Bhp and 175 Nm. The larger petrol engine comes with a 5 speed manual transmission and the turbo petrol engine comes with a 7 speed DSG automatic unit. Whereas, the lone diesel engine is a 1.5L unit rated to deliver 1.9 Bhp and 250 Nm, and it comes with the option of a 5 speed manual or a 78 speed DSH automatic gearbox.
Moving on to the discounts on the Vento, the Comfortline variant is being offered with the largest discount here. The total discount on this variant being offered is Rs. 90,000. This discount is split as Rs. 60,000 as cash discount, Rs. 20,000 as exchange bonus, and Rs. 10,000 as corporate bonus.
