The first week of 2021 witnessed launches by MG Motors, Audi, Mercedes-Benz and Ford in India

The first week of the new year witnessed a slew of big announcements in the Indian automobile market. The biggest news was the launch of MG Hector Facelift and Toyota Fortuner Facelift. Mercedes-Benz, Audi and Ford also brought in new products to the country. 2021 Jeep Compass Facelift was unveiled in India ahead of the launch later this month. 2021 Ford EcoSport Launched at Rs 7.99 Lakh


Ford India launched the 2021 EcoSport at a price point of Rs 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The American automaker has introduced a sunroof on the Titanium trim.  The new EcoSport retails in 5 variants namely Ambiente, Trend, Titanium, Titanium+, and Sports. The SUV is available with both petrol and diesel engine options. The 1.5 -litre Ti-VCT petrol engine belts out 120 bhp of maximum power output and 149 Nm of peak torque. On the other hand, the 1.5-litre TDCi diesel engine churns out a power output of 99 bhp with 215 Nm of peak torque. A 5-speed manual transmission is available with both petrol and diesel engines. Audi A4 Facelift Launched Price in India is Rs 42.34 Lakhs

Audi A4 Facelift was launched in India at a price of Rs 42.34 lakhs (ex-showroom). The price rises up to Rs 46.67 lakhs (ex-showroom) for the top-end Technology variant. 2021 Audi A4 Facelift retails in two variants - Premium Plus and Technology. It is powered by a 2.0-litre turbo petrol unit delivering a power output of 190 bhp and 320 Nm of peak torque. The engine is paired to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The sedan comes with 5 drive modes namely Efficiency, Comfort, Auto, Dynamic, and Individual. Audi A4 Facelift competes against the likes of Mercedes Benz C-Class, BMW 3-Series, and petrol-only Jaguar XE in the domestic market. Read More

Kawasaki Z H2 and Z H2 SE Launched in India


Kawasaki India launched their supercharged naked motorcycles, the Z H2 and Z H2 SE in the country. The former retails at Rs 21.90 lakhs while the latter is sold at a price tag of Rs 25.90 lakhs (all prices, ex-showroom), respectively. The Z H2 design follows Kawasaki's latest SUGOMI design language. Also, both the Z H2 bikes are powered by a 998cc, inline-four supercharged engine. The bike delivers 200 bhp of maximum power output @11,000 rpm and 137 Nm torque of peak torque @8,500rpm. Mercedes Benz S-Class ‘Maestro Edition’ Launched in India at a Price of Rs 1.51 Crores

Mercedes-Benz India outlined its ambitions for the domestic market with the launch of S-Class ‘Maestro Edition’ at a price point of Rs 1.51 crore (ex-showroom). Mercedes-Benz S-Class Maestro Edition houses a 2925cc engine under the hood. The premium luxury saloon delivers a power output of 286 bhp @3400-4600 rpm and 600 Nm torque @1200-3200 rpm. The engine comes mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission. Talking about the colour options, it is offered in two shades namely Anthracite Blue and Diamond White. Read More

Toyota Fortuner Facelift Launch Price in India is Rs 29.98 Lakhs

Toyota Kirloskar Motors launched the much-awaited Fortuner Facelift in the price bracket of Rs 29.98 lakhs - Rs 37.43 lakhs (ex-showroom). There is also a new variant named Legender that was introduced having a price tag of Rs 37.58 lakhs (ex-showroom). The Fortuner Facelift is sold with 2 engine options - a 2.7-litre petrol and a 2.8-litre diesel. The former belts out 166 bhp of maximum power output and 245 Nm of peak torque while the latter delivers 201 bhp power with 500Nm torque. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual unit and a 6-speed automatic gearbox. Also, the standard trim of the Fortuner Facelift is available with 4×2 and 4×4 configurations. 2021 MG Hector Launched at Rs 12.89 Lakhs


After much wait, the 2021 MG Hector Facelift arrived in the Indian market at a price of Rs 12.89 lakhs (ex-showroom). The SUV is powered by the same powertrains that were present in the outgoing model. Thus the engine options include a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol with hybrid tech and a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder diesel unit. The former delivers 143 bhp of maximum power output while the latter churns out 170bhp. A 6-speed manual transmission is being offered as standard on both petrol and diesel models while the 6-speed dual clutch automatic is only available with the non-hybrid turbo petrol powertrain. It rivals the likes of Jeep Compass, Tata Harrier and Nissan Kicks in the country. Read More

MG Hector Plus 7-Seater Launched at Rs 13.34 Lakhs

MG Hector Plus 7-seater was launched in the Indian market at a price of Rs 13.34 lakhs (ex-showroom), India. The new Hector Plus rivals the likes of the upcoming Mahindra XUV 500, Jeep Compass Facelift in the domestic market. It retails in four variants namely Style, Super, Smart, and an all-new Select. The engine options available are a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol with 48V mild hybrid, 2.0-litre diesel and a 1.5-litre turbo petrol. The turbo petrol variant offers a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed DCT automatic transmission while the diesel engine provides a 6-speed manual gearbox option. On the other hand, the hybrid engine is paired with a 6-speed manual transmission unit only. Read More

2021 Jeep Compass Facelift Unveiled in India


Finally, the 2021 Jeep Compass Facelift made its way to India after making a global debut in November, last year. It will compete against Skoda Karoq and Hyundai Tucson Facelift in the domestic market. Expect the SUV's price to retail at Rs 16 lakhs (ex-showroom). 2021 Jeep Compass will be powered by the outgoing model’s 1.4-litre Multiair petrol and 2.0-litre diesel engines. The petrol engine will churn out 163 bhp of maximum power output and 250Nm of peak torque while the diesel unit will deliver 170 bhp of maximum power output and 350Nm of peak torque. The petrol engine should be offered with a 6-speed manual or 7-speed DCT gearboxes while the diesel engine could come equipped with a 6-speed manual or a 9-speed automatic transmission.
