This week witnessed a slew of 8 new launches like Mahindra Scorpio S3+, 2021 Royal Enfield Himalayan, 2021 MG Hector Petrol CVT and Toyota Hiace

We are back with the 'Weekly-Wrap Up' of the biggest automobile stories from India and the International market. The week saw a flurry of activities in the Indian market with two launches from MG Motor India. There were bike introductions like Jawa 42, 2021 Royal Enfield Himalayan, Triumph Tiger 850 Sport, 2021 Yamaha FZ and FZS. 2021 MG ZS EV Facelift launched


This week saw the launch of New MG ZS EV Facelift in the domestic market. The facelifted EV was launched at a price tag of Rs 20.99 lakhs (ex-showroom), Delhi. It will come in 2 grades - Excite and Exclusive with its main rival being Hyundai Kona. The manufacturer is offering 5 years/unlimited km warranty, 5 years roadside assistance and 5 labour free services with the EV. Plus, there is also an 8 years/1.5 lakh km warranty on its battery.Mechanically, the facelifted version's powertrain is similar to the outgoing SUV. It is paired to a 44.5 kWh Hi-Tech IP6 rated battery. The electric motor delivers a power output of 141 bhp and peak torque of 353Nm. The manufacturer claims that the EV comes with a range of 419 kilometres on a single full charge. The battery will take 6 - 8 hours to charge if one uses an AC charger. On the other hand, if a 50 kW DC fast charger is employed then it will take 50 minutes to get completely recharged. 2021 Yamaha FZ and FZS launched in India



Yamaha Motor India launched the 2021 FZ Series in the Indian market. The 2021 Yamaha FZ FI price begins from Rs 1.03 lakh while the 2021 Yamaha FZS FI is priced at Rs 1.07 lakh (both the prices mentioned here are ex-showroom), Delhi. The new FZ FI retails in two colour schemes namely Racing Blue and Metallic Black. On the other hand, the FZS FI comes in five exciting colour options - Matte Red (new), Dark Matte Blue, Matte Black, Dark Knight, and Vintage Edition. There is no mechanical change in both the motorcycles as they continue to be powered by a BS6 compliant 149cc fuel-injected petrol engine. Read More


New Triumph Tiger 850 Sport launched in India




Triumph Motorcycles India launched the 2021 Tiger 850 Sport at a starting price of Rs 11.95 lakhs (ex-showroom) in India this week. Mechanically, the Tiger 850 Sport is powered by an 888cc liquid-cooled inline 3-cylinder engine. It delivers a power output of 84bhp @8500rpm and peak torque of 82Nm @6500rpm. The engine comes paired to a 6-speed gearbox with slip and assist clutch as standard. Triumph Tiger 850 Sport retails in two paint options namely Graphite & Diablo Red and Graphite & Caspian Blue. All-Electric Audi e-tron GT World Premiere




Audi e-tron GT made its world premiere globally this week. The all-electric sedan will come in two variants namely S and RS. It is expected to arrive in India by year-end and competes against the like of Porsche Taycan. Its price is expected to start from Rs 1.50 crore (ex-showroom), India. Audi e-tron GT will come equipped with an electric motor mounted at each axle. The motor on the front axle will churn a power output of 238 bhp while the motor at the rear axle will develop 435bhp. Its total power output will stand at 475bhp which can be extended further to 530bhp by using the launch control function. While the torque output will remain the same at 630Nm. Read More


2021 Royal Enfield Himalayan launched 




This week saw the arrival of the much-awaited 2021 Royal Enfield Himalayan in India. It is launched at a price of Rs 2.01 lakh (ex-showroom), India. The updated Royal Enfield Himalayan comes in three new paint options namely Granite Black (mix of matte and gloss), Mirage Silver and Pine Green alogside the existing paint shades - Rock Red, Lake Blue and Gravel Grey will roll over to the new model. This new model is Rs 10,000 more expensive than the older version. It continues to be powered by a 411cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine. The adventure tourer belts out 24.3bhp of maximum power output and 32Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a 5-speed constant mesh gearbox. Read More


2021 MG Hector Petrol CVT launched




MG Hector Petrol CVT variant was launched at a price tag of Rs 16.51 lakh (ex-showroom), India. The CVT transmission option comes in both the 5-seater Hector and 6-seater Hector Plus models. The 5-seater MG Hector CVT is available in two variants namely Smart and Sharp priced at Rs 16.51 lakhs and Rs 18.09 lakhs, respectively. On the other hand, the CVT option of the 7-seater Hector caters to trims like Hector Plus Smart and Sharp. The former is priced at Rs 17.21 lakhs while the latter gets a price tag of Rs 18.89 lakhs. All the prices mentioned here are (ex-showroom), India. Besides the new gearbox unit, the MG Hector and Hector Plus continue to come equipped with a DCT transmission. The new CVT variants on the MG Hector and Hector Plus come fitted with just a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine. It delivers a power output of 141 bhp and 250 Nm of peak torque. The eight-speed CVT gearbox also offers two driving modes - Eco and Sport. The CVT transmission addition is quite cheaper than the DCT unit. Read More


2021 Jawa 42 launched in India




2021 Jawa 42 has been launched at a starting price of Rs 1.82 lakh (ex-showroom), India. New changes include 3 new colour options, a new set of alloy wheels and a windscreen. The retro cruiser motorcycle competes against the likes of Royal Enfield Classic 350 and Honda H’ness CB 350 in the country. The new colour options here include Orion Red, Sirius White and AllStar Black. The updated Jawa 42 comes equipped with a new set of 13-spoke alloy wheels which are shod with tubeless tyres. The bike is powered by a retuned 1293cc liquid-cooled, fuel-injected engine. The powertrain delivers 27 bhp of maximum power output and 27.02Nm of peak torque. Read More


Mahindra Scorpio S3+ launched 




Mahindra and Mahindra launched a new Scorpio variant named S3+ at a price of Rs 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom), India. It is an entry-level trim of the popular SUV in the country. Mahindra Scorpio S3+ is powered by the same 2.2-litre 4-cylinder mHawk diesel engine, it comes with reduced power and torque figures. Thus, the engine develops a power output of 118bhp and peak torque of 280Nm. The performance figures of 18 bhp and 40Nm are less compared to the other variants in the Scorpio range. The engine is paired to a 5-speed manual transmission instead of the 6-speed manual gearbox that is being offered in all other variants. Toyota Hiace arrives in India 



Toyota India launched the Hiace MPV at a starting price of Rs 55 lakhs (ex-showroom) this week in the domestic market. It comes through the CBU route with only 50 units available for sale in the country. Toyota Hiace will come in two colour schemes namely White and Silver. The standard safety features here include dual front airbags and ABS with EBD. Toyota Hiace is powered by a 2.8-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine. The engine belts out 151 bhp of maximum power output and peak torque of 300Nm. The engine is paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission. Toyota Hiace currently has no direct rival in the Indian market. Read More
