Yamaha Motor has made it official that it will now sponsor the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP team for the 2024 season. Yamaha is well known for its involvement in motorsports, and in India, the Japanese manufacturer operates under its Indian subsidiary, India Yamaha Motor Pvt Ltd (IYM).
This partnership follows the outstanding success of the inaugural Indian GP that was held in September 2023. The Indian MotoGP is all set to take place between September 20-22 this year. The recent move by IYM will strengthen the company’s relationship with the factory MotoGP team for the coming season.
Under the sponsorship agreement, the brand’s YZR-M1 MotoGP motorcycles will feature Yamaha India’s iconic ‘The Call of the Blue’ tagline throughout the entire MotoGP season. The riders Fabio Quartararo and Alex Rins will have the line on their race bike cowls. The automaker’s ‘The Call of the Blue’ brand campaign is an effort to rekindle its relationship with India's racing enthusiasts. After unveiling entry-level models in the Indian market, the brand is also focusing on producing more premium scooters and bikes in India. The auto giant recently discontinued passenger versions of the Yamaha R1 and R1 M because of EU5+ emission norms in 2025.

Yamaha stated that the new investment in the brand’s Monster Energy MotoGP team is the first initiative by the company to promote motorsports culture in the country, and at the same time, Yamaha is also spreading awareness about its technological prowess in the field of racing.
The Japanese manufacturer has been associated with MotoGP for a long time, and Yamaha Racing is one of the strongest factory teams in the championship. Yamaha Racing has won 500 Grand Prix, and it also supplies engines to many satellite teams. The group has supported some of the greatest names in history, including Valentino Rossi, Phil Read, Wayne Rainey, Eddie Lawson, and now Fabio.
Commenting on the sponsorship, the Chairman of Yamaha Motor India Group, Eishin Chihana, said, "IYM is thrilled to become the newest sponsor of the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP team for the 2024 season. The collaboration not only strengthens our bond with MotoGP but also signifies a new phase of aspiration and enthusiasm for Yamaha enthusiasts in India. By prominently featuring 'The Call of the Blue' logo on Fabio Quartararo's and Alex Rins's YZR-M1 bikes, we aim to ignite greater enthusiasm among young Indian fans to embrace Yamaha’s legacy associated with the thrill of racing. This collaboration is a big step in our journey to connect with the youth and Yamaha fans in India."
