With more people realising the importance of the environment and vehicle running cost, they are switching over to CNG vehicles. Along with electric vehicles, there are CNG vehicles which will help the Indian citizens to reduce their dependency on petrol and diesel, and in return will reduce the harmful pollutants from getting into the environment.
With more people using CNG vehicle there are mere 1424 CNG stations across India. The smaller number of CNG pumps gets overcrowded and are unable to cater to the needs of the general public. The solution to this problem was provided by Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of Petroleum at the 58th SIAM annual convention, where he announced that the number of CNG stations in India will be increased by 10,000 by the year 2030.
The average vehicle uses around 750 litres of petrol every year, with a CNG kit inside the vehicle that exact amount of petrol will be saved hence reducing the number of pollutants from getting into the atmosphere. Manufacturers like Hyundai and Maruti Suzuki already have CNG vehicles in their portfolio. Ford is also expected to launch some CNG vehicles too. With the increase in the number of CNG stations, the path towards a greener future looks more promising.
