2020 New-gen Honda City will debut segment-first Honda Lane Watch camera as standard safety feature.
The 2020 new-gen Honda City was supposed to debut on March 16, 2020 in the Indian market. But it couldn't take place as per schedule due to the Coronavirus outbreak as all the social gatherings were banned and the country went into a 21 day lockdown. The exact launch date has not been revealed yet however, the features of the range-topping ZX grade have been leaked online, courtesy none other than AutoCar India. Honda City challenges the likes of Maruti Ciaz, Hyundai Verna, Toyota Yaris and Volkswagen Vento in the Indian market.
The 2020 fifth-gen Honda City will be the longest and widest car in its segment which also translates into that it could well be the most spacious sedan as well. The dashboard will feature padded materials to enhance the overall ambience of the new sedan. It will boast of several premium features such as leather seats, sunroof, steering mounted audio and phone controls, cruise control, automatic climate control etc. to name a few. Though, as we told you in a separate story, the AC will not have touch controls but in the form of rotary knobs. There will be a 7-inch fully colored semi-digital instrument cluster with an analogue speedometer and tachometer. The HD multi-information display (MID) will debut a G-meter, something the likes of Nissan GTR features.
The centre console will house an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system which will be not only compatible with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto but also the Alexa remote and Honda Connect. The 2020 fifth-gen Honda City will be the first car in the Indian market to be compatible with Alexa remote while the Honda Connect will enable the driver to share the car status via the telematics control unit. The new sedan will come loaded with ample safety features in the form of six airbags, 3-point seatbelts for the rear-middle passenger, traction control, electronic stability programme, hill-start assist and low-tyre-pressure warning system. Reverse parking camera and the segment-first Lane Watch camera, borrowed from Honda Civic, would also make it to the list of City's safety features.
