The new-generation XUV500 has been spotted doing test runs in heavy camouflage

Mahindra & Mahindra has been working on the new generation XUV500 for quite some time now. The SUV has been spotted doing test runs on multiple occasions in the past. Recently, the next-generation Mahindra XUV500 was caught on camera again during the test runs in the production-ready format with heavy camouflage.

Mahindra XUV 500 Interior

The latest spy shots of the production-ready test mule give us a fair idea of the front fascia of the SUV. We can clearly notice the make-shift lamps while the headlamp cavities are in line with Mahindra’s new family identity. The SUV will get a larger and bolder seven slat grille along with angular headlamp clusters which will further incorporate boomerang-shaped LED DRLs. We can expect Mahindra to use more chrome and silver inserts on the front fascia of the SUV. The next-gen Mahindra XUV500 is also likely to be longer than its predecessor. Furthermore, it will also be more spacious in comparison to the outgoing model due to the presence of the longer wheelbase. The rear end of the SUV is likely to get a completely new design.

Talking about the interiors, we can expect the SUV to get a new layout. The spy images give us a glimpse of the new dashboard design. Other feature highlights will include a wide touchscreen unit, flat-bottom steering wheel, and new fabric upholstery. Furthermore, we also expect the SUV to be more feature-loaded than before.

Mahindra XUV 500 Back Side

Mechanically, the next-generation XUV500 will be underpinned by a new modular platform. It is likely to be powered by a new 2.0-litre diesel unit that will be more powerful than the existing 2.2-litre motor. Also, we can expect the company to offer the next-gen XUV500 with a new 2.0-litre mStallion turbocharged petrol engine. Once launched, the SUV will rival the likes of MG Hector Plus and Tata Gravitas.
