Mahindra is all set to launch the Second-Generation XUV500 in April this year

The launch of the Second-Generation XUV500 is around the corner. Ahead of its official launch, the New-Gen XUV500 was spotted doing test runs on the tough terrain of Solang Valley in Himachal Pradesh. The spy shots of the same have surfaced online.

The spy images reveal that the 2021 XUV500 will be larger than the previous generation. This further gives a hint that the cabin will be quite spacious. From the images, we could clearly see the test mule flaunting the signature Mahindra grille. The number plate is positioned on top of the grille. The bumper and headlight setup looks quite different from the one present on the current-gen XUV500. The rear profile of the SUV gets a refresh.

While the side profile majorly remains the same. Coming back to the rear end, we could see full-LED tail-lamps. The quarter glass looks similar to the one present on the current model. Furthermore, it will also come equipped with a rear washer wiper setup as seen in the spy shots. We could hardly see the model from the top. However, the image gives us a hint that the test mule will get a panoramic sunroof. Besides these, a sharp element on the roof hints at a shark-fin antenna.

The 2021 Mahindra XUV500 will house two engines under its hood. A 2.2 litre mHawk turbo diesel motor that will generate 180 bhp power. While a 2-litre mStallion turbo petrol unit will be on offer dishing out 190 bhp power. Transmission options include 6-speed gearbox alongside a 6-speed automatic. Talking about the petrol unit, it is also present in the 2020 Mahindra Thar. But in XUV500, the motor will be retuned a bit so that it does justice to XUV’s size and weight. The AWD option is likely to be present in selected trims.
