8 cars that Indian customers generally ignore

With the fast growing car industry of India, the average customer today is spoilt for choice in the market. Just take a look at the number of cars that are present in the market today as compared to the cars in the market two decades ago and the numbers will leave you astounded. From compact SUVs to sub compact sedans to pick-up trucks the market is full of options and it is a buyer’s market today. However, in this crowd of options, there are some cars that just fly under the radar and the public does not notices their availability. It is not that these cars are bad or inferior in any manner. Rather, there are very good deals to be had here. Therefore, we have compiled a list today wherein such cars in the Indian market have been listed that for some reason do not get the attention by customers all that much. Let’s take a look at the cars in the Indian market that the general public largely overlooks.

Datsun Go+

Highlights – Value for money car. India’s most affordable MPV offering 7 seats in the segment, Datsun Go+ is actually based on Go hatchback’s platform. Presence of Maruti Eeco makes Go+ a very slow seller in the market. Prices for Go+ begin from Rs. 3.86 lakhs ex-showroom, Delhi.

Mahindra e20 Plus

Highlights -- Mahindra e20 Plus is India’s most affordable electric car as of now with prices starting from just Rs. 6.07 lakh, ex-showroom. Larger version of the 2-door e20 in the market. Poor sales largely due to the lack of charging infrastructure in the country.

Fiat Urban Cross

Highlights -- Fiat Urban Cross is based on the Punto hatchback and is a more rugged crossover version of the Italian hatchback. Urban Cross is also more feature loaded the Punto hatchback. However, limited penetration of the company in the Indian market and poor marketing are some of the reasons that the Urban Cross priced at Rs. 7.39 lakhs ex-showroom, Delhi, finds less takers than the performance oriented Punto Abarth, which is comparatively more expensive.

Mahindra TUV300 Plus

Highlights -- Mahindra TUV300 Plus is the larger version of TUV300 and comes with 7 seating capabilities. With a starting price of Rs. 9.92 lakhs, ex-showroom, the TUV300 Plus takes friendly fire from Scorpio, which is a cult SUV in the Indian market. Not to mention that more modern and feature loaded SUVs in the segment take the cake here and eat into the sales of TUV300 Plus.

Renault Captur

Highlights -- Captur won many awards for its design but could never attract the public to the dealerships. The French company had pinned its hopes on the vehicle after Duster but it has been a letdown so far. The presence of far famous SUVs in the segment makes the Captur a hard sell. Despite repeated massive discounts, the sales numbers for the SUV has failed to pick up and it remains a rare sight in the market.

Scorpio Getaway

Highlights – To say that Scorpio Getaway has no market in India would be wrong. Take a look at the massive and massively popular Isuzu D-Max V-Cross in the market and it leaves no doubt that lifestyle pick-up trucks are a thing that Indian like. However, there is something so iconic about the Scorpio SUV that people could not imagine it in a pick-up style format and hence Scorpio Getaway’s sales could not pick up in the market despite being on sale for such a long time.

Force Gurkha Expedition

Highlights – The massive street presence combined with the off-roading prowess of the Expedition should have made it an instant bestseller in the Indian market. However, the lack of features in the interior and the limited marketing of the SUV brings it no fans. Not to mention that the service network of Force is nothing great and despite the massive street presence of the SUV, it still looks pretty dated and understyled.

Toyota Camry Hybrid

Highlights – The price point is the biggest problem with the latest generation of Camry in India as the near Rs. 40 lakh price point opens up doors of luxury German makers for the customers. The presence of hybrid technology is not enough to attract the customer away from the timeless design of German cars at this price point.
