3rd generation model will go on sale later this year.

BMW India debuted the new 3rd generation version of its mid-size SUV the X3 at the Auto Expo 2018.

While it looks unmistakably BMW, the design has got a lot sharper and aggressive than before. Upfront, the kidney grille is much larger, and unlike the final versions of its predecessor, the headlamps remain separate from it. Rear styling is more evolutionary and there’s a newer interpretation of the classic ‘L-shaped’ tail-lamps.

Engines are most likely to be carried forward to the new car. This means an engine range comprising of a 248hp, xDrive30i four-cylinder petrol, a 190hp, xDrive20d four-cylinder diesel and a 265hp, xDrive30d six-cylinder diesel. ZF’s 8-speed automatic transmission which is standard issue in all BMWs will make an appearance here as well. All X3s in India will be equipped with BMW’s xDrive four-wheel drive as standard. Being a BMW you can expect the X3 to be a sharp handler. It will pack in long list of equipment including touch-and-gesture-controlled iDrive infotainment system, head-up display and 360-degree cameras on top variants and ; and adaptive dampers.

The X3 hasn’t been launched yet, however, and prices are expected to be revealed around May 2018.
