The car is set to rival the Lamborghini Huracán Performante Spyder.

The New 488 Pista Spider was shown at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in California. This roofless version of the hardcore 488 Pista coupe will compete with the likes of the Lamborghini Huracán Performante Spyder. It uses the same 3.9-litre twin-turbo V8 engine that produces 720hp and 770hp.

The car hits 100kph in 2.85 seconds (0.05s slower than the coupe) but top speed is still 340kph. The brief when making the car was to retain the coupé’s aerodynamic efficiency as possible, so as to not alter the car’s performance. Lightweight materials have helped keep the weight down.

It also features new 20-inch alloy wheels to differentiate it from the coupe and the car showcased featured exclusive new livery.
