Pratap Bose, renowned automobile designer, is all set to join Mahindra Group as the head of the recently inaugurated Mahindra Advanced Design Europe (MADE) centre in the West Midlands, UK. Bose recently parted ways with Tata Motors where he was the vice-president for global design. He served for more than a decade at Tata and was responsible for introducing the brand's latest IMPACT 2.0 design philosophy, under which several new vehicles such as Altroz, Harrier and Safari were launched in the Indian market.
Needless to say, Pratap had a phenomenal stint with Tata Motors and he earned a lot of success and fame. The magnitude of his success can be measured by the fact that he was nominated for the 2021 World Car Person of the Year award. It has been learnt that Julian Thomson who recently moved out of Jaguar Land Rover as Design Director might also join hands with Bose in Mahindra and work together in M.A.D.E. centre. Julian had been with JLR for more than twenty years. Speaking about M.A.D.E centre, it will be a part of the Mahindra Global Design Network that includes the Mahindra Design Studio in Mumbai, India, and Pininfarina Design in Turin, Italy. The Coventry region in the UK is a powerhouse of automotive design. M.A.D.E. will be operational from the 1st of July 2021.
Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director, Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd., speaking on this development, said, “Mahindra is poised to enter a new, exciting era to build upon our rich 75 years of automotive history to bring unique customer-centric products to the Indian and global markets. A key lever to make the business future-ready is to significantly strengthen design capability across automotive, farm equipment and two-wheelers globally. M.A.D.E will contribute to all future automotive and mobility products, including Born EV SUVs and be a resource available to Mahindra Group companies. It will give us a quantum leap in both capacity and capability in the design space.”
