There have already been a lot of leaks and renders of the upcoming Hyundai Venue, the sub-4 meter compact SUV of India’s second largest car company that will lock horns with Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport, Tata Nexon, and Mahindra XUV300 in the Indian market. The upcoming sub-4 meter compact SUV from the South Korean brand will be based on the Carlino concept that the company had showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo in India. What the maker has lost of timing in entering the sub-4 meter compact SUV segment due to its late entry, it hopes to make up on that front with the plethora of features that it will bring with the upcoming Venue to the segment for the very first time.
The company has already stated that it will present its latest sub-compact SUV at the New York Motor Show on 17 April, 2019. The Indian launch is also to likely follow soon after the unveil of the global model. What must be noted here is that the Indian spec version of Hyundai Venue will come with a few tweaks for the country’s market, as has been the norm with the South Korean maker’s cars.
Hyundai’s India division’s senior general manager for marketing Puneet Anand talked about the upcoming Venue and started,
“We are extremely delighted to share that the Blue Link Connectivity Solutions will debut in the Hyundai VENUE, making it India’s first Smart Connected SUV. The Blue Link Connectivity will be the most practical, concrete and convenient technology available in the Indian market to make the customers life easy. We have undertaken all the measures across all our touch points to ensure that our customers can get a firsthand experience of the Blue Link Connectivity. Our team of Blue Link Wizards & trained sales consultants will make the technology truly accessible to all our customers. The connected car technology is built on the theme of – Your Connected Friend On The Go and will help us realize our vision of becoming Lifetime Partners in Automobile and Beyond.”
The company says that Venue’s ‘Smart Connect SUV’ tag will arm it with 33 features and among these, 10 have been developed especially for India and it will also feature the brand’s ‘BlueLink Connected Technology’. The voice recognition program in the upcoming SUV will recognize Indian accent and will be able to control media, calls, and navigation among others. The South Korean maker has also joined hands with recently formed Vodafone-Idea to equip the upcoming Venue with an onboard e-SIM to facilitate cloud based services.
However, the eSIM feature will be available only with the DCT automatic variant of the car. Yes, you read that right, the upcoming Venue’s automatic version will come with the advanced DCT gearbox technology. Earlier, even Ford EcoSport came with the same gearbox, but that was discontinued later. The leak about DCT gearbox happened when a slide during company’s presentation revealed that BlueLink feature will be present only on DCT models of upcoming Venue. The DCT transmission will be a 7-speed unit. The South Korean maker will equip the Venue with two engine options, the first will be a 1L turbo petrol motor and the other could be the 1.4L diesel engine that is also seen on the Verna.
