Check out the features and specs of the new India-bound E-class LWB; launch on February 28.

Here’s what’s new:

The LWB edition of the Mercedes E-class is clearly focused on the chauffer-driven customer and is, therefore, more luxurious than ever before. New features include reclining rear seats, front and rear seat memory function, 64-colour ambient lighting, air suspension (only on 350d), COMAND Online system and automatic parking.

The 12.3-inch screen and instrumentation panel won’t make it to this Indian model. It will instead feature a seven-inch multi-function display with twin dials.

Interior

Buyers will get to choose between two trim levels, Avantgarde (E200) and Exclusive (E350d). Both will feature black or beige interiors. Seats will be upholstered with Artico (faux) leather and will be available in black or beige.

It also gets the S-class-esque COMAND Online infotainment system with a hi-res seven-inch display. Audio will be pumped out through a 13-speaker 590W Burmester sound system. All these systems can be controlled via a touchpad that can be accessed by the driver.

Temperature is controlled via a three-zone climate control system. The car also gets a panoramic sunroof and electric sunblinds for the rear windows. The E-class also gets Mercedes’ new reversing system that’s equipped with all-around cameras which make reversing much easier.

Safety is taken care of by Mercedes-Benz’s Pre-safe system and seven airbags.

The E-class has been the cornerstone of Mercedes’ success in India. The gamble with the LWB edition will be interesting to watch. Other players in the executive luxury segment are Jaguar with the XF, Volvo with the S90 and BMW will be launching the new-gen 5-series soon.
