New Suzuki Vitara will come with updates in performance, design and features

The new Maruti Vitara Brezza facelift arrived in the Indian market in February earlier this year. Now, reports are emerging of the 2021 Suzuki Vitara global premiere in October 2021. It will be coming with a host of new features, design and engine updates. The world premiere is scheduled for October but the launch will happen sometime in the coming year, probably in the second quarter of 2021. While the India-spec Vitara is awaited, in the meantime we can expect Maruti Suzuki to launch XL5 in the coming months.

New Suzuki Vitara

If we talk about the 2021 Suzuki Vitara, unofficial reports peg the dimensions to be around 4,200mm in length, 1,780mm in width and 1,620mm in height. Dimension wise, the new SUV will be bigger compared to the current model with the wheelbase remaining unchanged at 2500mm. With the increase in car size, the cabin will be more spacious in the 2021 Suzuki Vitara. No specifics are out in regards to the features but expect it to be equipped with new safety features as well as improved comfort features.

Talking about the performance updates, International models will be powered by a  1.4-litre inline-4 Boosterjet petrol unit. The engine will belt out 130 bhp of maximum power and 253 Nm of peak torque. If we talk about the transmission duties, the buyers will have the options of both manual and automatic torque converter units. The SUV will come with a 48-volt Li-ion battery powered mild-hybrid system. The current hybrid system can be seen on the 2020 Vitara Brezza currently sold in the Indian market. There would be a different engine coming with the SUV for Indian buyers. The 1.5-litre K15 engine would be probably the one powering the 2021 Suzuki Vitara for India. If Maruti Suzuki wants to disrupt the compact SUV segment in India, it could do nothing better than bring the 1.4-litre turbocharged engine here.
