Kia Motors India is preparing to hike its debut SUV Seltos from January 1, 2020.
The SUV which was introduced in August 2019 was launched at a starting price of Rs 9.69 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the entry-level petrol variant. The company had announced the hike in prices at the launch itself.
At the moment the company is giving Seltos SUV at previously announced prices but that is only up to December 31, 2019.
This implies that customers who are able to take delivery before this date are eligible for the previous prices. After 1st January 2020, all SUVs sold will be at the hiked priced.
Although the company has not revealed as by how much the price will be hiked but as per the news sources, the hike would be substantial that would apply on all variants.
The SUV was launched with 16 variants that split between two major trims- HT line which is more conventional while the GT line is for more sporty versions. The GT line is easily distinguishable with red accents on the exterior and unique design for alloy wheels, all-black interior with contrast red stitching. Although the 16 variants seem like too many for the latest carmaker, the top-spec variant misses out on automatic gearbox which is quite surprising.
The latest top-spec variants introduced by the company in September 2018 included GTX+ petrol and a GTX+ diesel. The waiting period for some variants is stretched to more than 2 months.
The Seltos SUV rivals the Hyundai Creta, the Tata Harrier, the Nissan Kicks, the Renault Captur and the MG Hector.
Tata too is working on bringing out an update for their Nexon in the Indian market.
