MG Motors is likely to launch a petrol version of ZS SUV in India.

If a report by Autocar India is to be believed, then MG Motors could be launching a petrol avtar of ZS SUV in the country. The decision to introduce a petrol engine comes in lieu of the overwhelming response that the British Marque recently received after having launched their first connect Electric SUV - MG ZS EV in India. With an expected price starting from around Rs 16 lakhs (ex-showroom), MG ZS petrol would most likely be introduced sometime early next year. For the time being, the company could showcase this product at this week's Auto Expo 2020.

The biggest highlight of MG ZS petrol will be its powertrain. The engine in focus is a 1.0 litre direction injection petrol mill that is good for producing a maximum power output of 111 Bhp with 160 Nm of peak torque. It is likely to come matted to 6-speed automatic transmission. Performance states that the ZS petrol can accelerate from 0 - 100 Kmph in just 12.4 seconds and has a top speed of 180 kmph.

There is still no word on whether the interiors would get updated once when the petrol variant comes into the market. But what one can assume is that the build quality, fit and finish of the cabin could be improved to bring out its premium appeal for the target customer in India.
