The car shares a range of design attributes with the older XC90.

The company has officially released three images giving us a sneak peak of what its new 2017 XC60 is going to look like. The car will make its official debut at the Geneva motor show in March.

The pictures of the headlight and nose suggest the new car will inherit the look of its larger sibling, the XC90. Also included are ‘Thor’s hammer’ daytime running lights, and a large, rectangular grill. A third image of the mostly-covered car shows an angled rear tailgate with vertical lights along the C-pillars, much like the XC90. These design similarities suggest that both cars could share a host of parts and features. These will likely include a central infotainment system, flanked by large air vents, and a digital dash display behind the steering wheel, rather than the traditional dials we’re used to.

All XC60s will be powered by the company's new range of 2.0-litre diesel and petrol engines. The brand’s T5 three-cylinder hybrid powertrain, although not yet confirmed, is also likely to feature in this car. This new engine will feature in the smaller XC40, which sits below the XC60 in Volvo’s international SUV range.
The XC60 is a rival to SUVs like the Mercedes-Benz GLC, the BMW X3 and the Audi Q5.
