Global Trademark Filings Suggest Nissan All Set To Rebrand The Company Logo And Replace 370Z

The recent trademark filings suggest that Nissan is all set to get a new logo. Registered in multiple international markets namely Great Britain, Peru, Chile, and Argentina, the new logo replaces the three-dimensional chrome logo, with a more minimalist two-dimensional monochromatic one.

The new logo will still have the name of the company in all-caps placed in the middle. The top and bottom arches have been redesigned and are no longer connected. This new logo is near-identical to the backlit portion of the logo present on the all-electric Nissan Ariya Concept that was showcased at last year at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show.

Apart from the new logo, Nissan has also applied for the trademark of a new badge for its ‘Z’ performance models. Unlike the new logo, The Z will apparently look back in history for its badging. It bears more resemblance to the badge worn by the 1970s Nissan Fairlady Z (also sold as the Datsun 240Z in select markets) sportscar. There is no confirmation yet on this. The application for the new Z badge will apparently mean that the replacement for the aging Nissan 370Z sportscar is not far behind.

There is no confirmation yet from Nissan regarding the new logo. Although there are speculations that Nissan is gearing up to launch a new compact SUV (codename EM2) for India around September 2020.
