Peugeot reveals its second-gen 508

The car gets a fastback-look and six engine options.

The Peugeot 508 has switched from a more sedan like appearance to a fastback bodystyle. The car gets a five-door body, and styling inspired by the Instinct shooting brake concept, which the company showed at the 2017 Geneva motor show.

At the rear, there’s a light bar that features LED lights borrowed off the Instinct concept, and the front-end features aggressive styling. There are a total of six petrol and diesel engines are on offer. The 508 should also get a plug-in hybrid variant once it is launched abroad. The car also comes with driver assistance systems, an infra-red camera integrated into the car’s pedestrian detection system, Peugeot’s second-generation i-Cockpit system (with a 10-inch central touchscreen and, it’s even got a 12.3-inch TFT display instead of the conventional dials at the steering.

Boot capacity now stands at 485 litres. The 508 is built on the same PSA EMP2 platform which underpins many of the company’s models, including the 3008and 5008 SUVs, Vauxhall Grandland X, DS 7 Crossback and Citroën Picasso MPVs. The company has tied up with the CK Birla group in India and has been testing the 3008 and the 2008 crossovers, as well as the 208 hatchback, in India.
