Kerner was arrested on suspicion of diesel emission manipulation related to VW’s dieselgate scandal.

Porsche’s powertrain development head, Jörg Kerner, is now under arrest, following a raid conducted on the offices and homes of high ranking VW officials. Lawyers and staff of the Stuttgart public prosecutor’s office and the German police conducted the raid.

The 48-year-old German engineer was taken into custody on April 19, 2018. He is suspected to have been involved in the dieselgate emission manipulation scandal. Porsche R&D head, Michael Steiner, is also being investigated currently.

Porsche responded to the raids and Porsche chairman, Oliver Blume said, "Porsche does not develop or produce any diesel engines or diesel software. The prosecution has accused Porsche of being aware that impermissible control equipment was installed. We reject this accusation."
