Renault Triber Launched in Indian Market

French automaker Renault has finally launched Triber MPV in the Indian market. The price for the compact MPV starts at Rs. 4.95 lakhs, ex-showroom for the base model and goes all the way up to Rs. 6.49 lakhs for the top end trim. The Triber is available in four variants: RXE, RXL, RXT and RXZ. The Triber is the first sub-4 metre compact SUV from the French brand in the Indian market. Based on the same CMF-A platform that is also used in the company's Kwid hatchback, the Triber is aiming to start the compact MPV segment in Indian market. Something that the Japanese Datsun Go+ could not achieve. This is the reason the company has launched the Triber at such a competitive price point that even some mid-size hatchbacks will feel the heat from the rivalry. The compact MPV’s bookings are open, and deliveries have also started. Renault dealers across India are also offering test drives of this latest people mover.

Coming to the mechanicals of the Triber compact MPV, the speculation that the vehicle will come with an AMT gearbox at the time of launch did not come true. The French maker has launched the Triber as a petrol only vehicle and it comes with a 1L 3-pot petrol engine rated to deliver 71 Bhp and 96 Nm. This engine is the same one that is offered with the Kwid hatchback, albeit it is offered here in a higher state of tune. The engine comes paired with a 5 speed manual gearbox. Although the brand is not offering any automatic transmission option as of now, the company may as well offer the AMT gearbox in future because the same engine on Kwid is indeed offered with an AMT gearbox.

Coming to the most touted versatility part of Triber, the MPV from the brand is highly configurable and the company claims that the presence of removable third row of seats makes it a perfect vehicle for the youth of India. The 7-seater can easily be customized as per the needs of the user as the last row of seats in the compact MPV are completely removable. The Triber is aimed at the youth market of India that aspires to have one vehicle that can fit multiple usage scenarios, from camping to daily commutes. The sharp pricing reflects just this. Also, the Triber’s 182 mm ground clearance means that it will handle almost all road conditions in India without a worry. The MPV rides on 14 inch wheels, which means that there will be a large selection of tyres available at affordable prices.

Lastly, talking of the features offered on the Triber, the brand has learned from the mistake Datsun Go+ made here and Renault has not skimped on the features here. Triber comes with a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Carplay, Android Auto and Bluetooth connectivity options. On the safety front, the Triber is equipped with dual airbags, ABS, reverse parking sensors, seat belt reminder, ISOFIX child seat provision and speed alerts.
