Rivian has revealed their two new vehicles, the R1S SUV and R1T PickUp truck at the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show. Both the vehicles are very identical to each other. The R1S SUV has longer rear doors and a gently sloping roof. Whereas, the R1T has a loading bay on the rear.
The front of both the vehicle is similar to each other. The vehicles’ front fascia looks very clean and futuristic. The faux plate on the front bumper gives the vehicle a rugged look. The taillight on the rear is present across the width of the vehicle. The cabin comes equipped with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 15.6-inch infotainment system and 6.8-inch touchscreen display for rear seat passengers.
Both R1S and R1T will be available in three configurations – a 105 kWh, a 135 kWh and 180 kWh. The vehicles will be powered by four electric motors. The base trim, 105 kWh battery pack gives a combined output of 402 HP and 560 Nm of torque. This model can accelerate from 0-100 km/hr in just 4.9 seconds and can reach a top speed of 201 km/hr. The range from this battery pack is more than 386 km on a single charge.
The mid-level model has a larger 135 kWh battery pack and a combined output of 753 HP and 1120 Nm of torque. Thanks to the extra power and larger battery, the vehicle can run from 0-100 km/h in 3.0 seconds and travel in excess 498 km/h. Whereas, the top spec 180 kWh battery offers less performance but has a longer range. It has an output of 700 HP and 1120 Nm of torque. This battery pack offers a maximum range of 659 km.
The vehicles will have a Level 3 Autonomous driving system and the first deliveries of the vehicles are slated to commence in late 2020.
