A leak revealed the Range Rover is looking at pricing its Velar from ₹75 lakh, with the top-of-line diesel set to cost around ₹1.20 crore. The Velar, which will launch in November, comes with either a 250hp 2.0-litre Ingenium petrol, or a 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel in 180hp or 240hp versions. Power is channelled via a standard ZF-sourced eight-speed automatic that sends power to all four wheels.
The car comes fitted with a whole host of driving aids - Hill Descent Control (HDC) is standard, while Terrain Response 2 is optional. There’s a new Touch Pro Duo infotainment system with two 10-inch touchscreens. These displays help reduce the switchgear to an absolute minimum - the lower part of the centre console has a screen too.
The Velar looks to undercut its rivals in terms of price – the SUV sits between the Evoque and Range Rover Sport in the company’s line-up.
