Demand for armoured or bulletproof vehicles is skyrocketing across the globe. There’s growing concern among the high profile businessmen, celebrities and politicians about their own as well as their loved one’s safety. According to Texas Armoring Corp, there are estimated 200,000 to 300,000 bulletproof vehicles running on the roads. India is no stranger to bulletproof cars as famous businessmen like Mukesh Ambani rides in armoured cars which offer superior close range protection even from assault rifles and grenade explosions. Indian politicians are ferried by imported bulletproof cars highlighting the lack of locally manufactured bulletproof limousines. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is driven in an armoured Range Rover Sentinel SUV and an armoured BMW 7-Series sedan while President Kovind travels in Mercedes S600 Pullman Guard Limousine. Tata Motors owns the Range Rover but it isn’t manufactured locally unlike the Evoque & Discovery Sport, so we can’t call it a homegrown bulletproof car.
Tata Harrier was launched in 2019 and quickly it became one of the top-selling SUVs in the Indian market. Now, SRK Designs has imagined the popular Harrier SUV as a bulletproof luxury limousine. In a video uploaded by SRK Designs on Youtube, the automotive designers have showcased the digital rendering of the customized Tata Harrier SUV. At the beginning of the video, the stock Tata Harrier is shown and the designers elongate the SUV from the middle. The length additions are separated from the rear doors while the addition of pillars gives structural strength to the SUV.
Bulletproof cars often come with a black tint on the windows for privacy and protection and we see the same in the modified Tata Harrier SUV. Bulletproof Tata Harrier looks imposing as the dual-tone exterior paint scheme is replaced with an all-black finish.
Giving a more stylish look to the majestic bulletproof Tata Harrier is the Indian flag which is added to the front-left wheel while the tricolour emblem is on the front grille. The alloy wheels are vastly different from the stock one while we can expect the modified car to sport flat tyres. Tata Harrier Bulletproof SUV will offer the occupants protection against close-range fire from assault rifles and grenades. Tata Harrier recently received a BS6 update with the inclusion of a 2.0-litre FCA-derived diesel engine. The engine delivers 170bhp of maximum power and 350 Nm of the peak torque with the transmission duties now handled by 6-speed automatic and manual units.
