Tata Motors files trademark for ‘Taureo, Epiq, and Spyk’ nameplates; plans to launch multiple new cars in India by 2022

Tata Motors is planning to launch several new products in the Indian market. The company has filed for three new names recently - Taureo, Epiq, and Spyk. These names are expected to be used for the company’s upcoming sedan, MPV, and midsize SUV. We can also expect the names to be used for the upcoming range of electric cars. These new models will either use the OMEGA or ALFA platforms.

Apart from filing the trademark applications, Tata has not revealed any other information yet. The launch timelines for the brand’s new models have also not been disclosed. It is expected that Tata could launch a new MPV under the name of Taureo. It might be based on the ALFA platform. Furthermore, we can assume the MPV to draw its power from a 1.5 litre diesel and petrol engines. Once launched, it will rival the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Mahindra Marazzo in its segment.

Tata is also currently working on a new 1.5-litre petrol motor which it might use in its upcoming sedan and the mid-size SUV. We can expect both these models to be based on the ALFA platform. Further, Tata is also planning to launch the Next-Gen Tigor, Tiago, and Nexon. But for now, the company is all set to launch the Gravitas 7-seater SUV and HBX micro-SUV anytime next year.

The demand for electric cars is increasing day by day in India. With Nexon EV being the best selling electric car in country, Tata Motors is planning to launch a few more electric vehicles in the near future. Thus the company aims to remain at the top of the EV sales chart with regular new launches. It seems that the manufacturer is planning to launch HBX EV, Altorz EV, and Blackbird EV in the coming time.
