Nexon is the first sub-4 metre compact SUV by Tata in the Indian market. Although, the audience may have a divided opinion on the looks of Nexon, the initial sales for the SUV were as per the hopes of the brand and it went ahead and carved a niche for itself in the segment. However, the launch of formidable feature loaded rivals first in the form of Mahindra XUV300 and then the South Korean maker’s Hyundai Venue saw the Nexon lose a large chunk of the market. Therefore, as the dethroned segment leader Maruti Brezza is gearing up for a facelift version, Tata too is working on bringing out an update for their Nexon in the Indian market. So, what are the changes that one can expect to see on the Nexon in the near future. Well, here’s what you can expect to see changed on the Nexon in the coming times.
Design
The upcoming version of Nexon will not be a model replacement, but keeping in line with the strategy to bring all the cars to a same design language, Tata will surely make changes to the design of the Nexon in India. One can expect the Nexon to borrow heavily from the elder sibling Harrier in the design department and it is expected to carry the new IMPACT 2.0 design language with looks heavily inspired by the Harrier. Although one may not see all the design elements of the Harrier make their way to the Nexon, one can surely hope a changed design with a futuristic touch.
Nexon EV
Tata recently confirmed that it is indeed working on bringing out an electric model of the Nexon in the Indian market. Tata is perhaps looking at Mahindra’s plan to bring out an electric model of XUV300 in the market and is preparing Nexon EV to take on the same. Although, a lot of details of the upcoming version are not out, one can expect the Nexon EV to come with a range greater 250 kms.
More Powerful Version
Tata launched the moist affordable hot hatch and notchback in the Indian market in the form of JTP versions of Tiago and Tigor recently and now the same treatment is about to be meted to Nexon as well. Apart from a more powerful engine, the Nexon JTP is also expected to come with regular changes as per a hot version of normal car, which may include tweaked suspension and new graphics on the outside.
BS-VI Nexon
With the deadline for the strict BS-VI emission norms being set at April 1, 2020, we can expect Tata to bring out the BS-VI compliant version of Nexon in the market. The brand has already stated that larger cars in its portfolio will continue to come with diesel engines, and hence we can expect Tata to update both diesel as well as petrol engines of the Nexon as per the upcoming emission norms.
Feature Update
While the Nexon already comes with a lot of features, the advent of other even more feature loaded rivals in the segment means that the maker will surely bring out the next version of Nexon with a lot more features. The spyshots of the vehicle have already indicated the same.
