Royal Enfield Motorcycles had launched the Meteor 350 a few months back. The company has revealed its plan of launching at least 28 motorcycles in the next seven years. This means one motorcycle will be launched every quarter. Recently, a test model of Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 was spotted doing test runs in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Spy shots of the same have been leaked online. There were speculations that the brand is planning to give a mid-life facelift to its 650 Twins. The spy shots give us a hint of the same. Furthermore, we can expect the Interceptor 650 facelift to launch sometime next year. Besides this, there is a possibility that Continental 650 might also receive a mid-life refresh.
Coming back to the Interceptor 650 facelift, it might get subtle cosmetic changes along with a slight tweak to its engine. It will continue to flaunt the same retro-classic styling. The images reveal that the bike features a round halogen headlamp, spoked wheels, minimal body panels, and twin exhaust mufflers. However, the only difference that we can make out is the seat which has a flat contour instead of a slightly sloping contour as present in the current model. Feature-wise, it might get the Bluetooth-enabled Tripper Navigation that was last seen in the recently launched Meteor 350.
Mechanically, the 650 Twins will draw its power from a 648c parallel-twin oil-cooled engine. While being mated to a 6-speed gearbox, the motor churns out 47 bhp power and 52 Nm peak torque. Talking about the price, we can expect the facelifted Twins 650 to get a hike over the current prices. At present, the Interceptor 650 is offered at a starting price of Rs 2.66 lakh (ex-showroom). While the Continental 650 is retailed at Rs 2.82 lakh (ex-showroom).
