The car is based on the latest Polo hatchback and will go on sale in South American markets.

The company has taken the wraps off its midsize sedan, the Virtus. The car will replace the Polo Sedan (Vento) in many international markets. It is based on the Polo’s MQB A0 flexible platform.

The car comes with a spacious cabin and a big 521-litre boot. Most of the interior bits will be shared with the Polo, including the high-tech dashboard with dual digital screens, which the top-spec Polo is fitted with.

In South America, the car will be sold with a 1.6-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine delivering 117hp and 162Nm, and a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder, turbo-petrol that makes 128hp and 200Nm. The 1.6 engine works with a five-speed automatic, while the turbo-petrol is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.

For now, there’s no news of the Virtus coming to India.
