The XC40 Recharge Single variant will be assembled at Volvo’s manufacturing facility located in Hosakote, Bengaluru.

Volvo Car India has launched a new XC40 Recharge Single variant with a single motor. The new variant is available at a price of INR 54.95 lakh (ex-showroom). The Single variant will be sold with the top trims of the electric SUV. It is placed below the outgoing top-end model. In India, Volvo unveiled the XC40 Recharge electric back in 2022. The twin-motor trim of the EV is priced at INR 57.90 lakh (ex-showroom). Bookings for the new variant are currently open. Customers can reserve the new XC40 Recharge online via the company’s official website.

The automaker assembles all cars at its manufacturing facility located in Hosakote, Bengaluru, and the new XC40 Recharge Single variants will also be assembled at the same plant. This strategic move ensures that all Volvo products that are being sold in India are produced locally, reducing the overall price. The Hosakote facility plays a pivotal role in the automaker's commitment to expanding its EV offerings and catering to the growing demand for sustainable mobility solutions in the domestic market.

The latest variant is powered by an electric motor on the front axle. The motor churns out 238 hp of maximum power and 420 Nm of peak torque. The Swedish auto giant stated that the Single variant has a certified range of 475 km as per WLTP, and according to the ICAT testing, the range stands at 592 km. The SUV can sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in 7.3 seconds. The top speed of the EV is electronically limited to 180 kmph. The Volvo XC40 Recharge Single will house a 69-kWh battery set, which weighs around 500 kg. The auto giant will also offer an 8-year warranty on the new battery. With the SUV, buyers will now also receive an 11-kw wall box charger.

Volvo cars have received a positive consumer response in the Indian electric vehicle market. In 2023, the C40 Recharge and XC40 Recharge electric cars accounted for around 28 percent of Volvo's overall sales in the nation. The auto giant is aiming to surge its sales numbers and broaden its consumer reach by unveiling a new variant in the Indian market.

The Managing Director at Volvo Car India, Jyoti Malhotra, said, “The vehicle has been strategically priced so as to increase our customer base as well as to showcase our continued commitment to grow the Indian EV market. This launch is a significant milestone in our journey to provide Indian customers with an exceptional fusion of performance, sustainability, and convenience and reinforces our promise of introducing one new electric model annually in India."
